Recap of Our Launch Event at Hen’s Teeth!

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who made our launch event actual gorgeous gorgeous scenes!

Sunday exceeded every imagination & expectation i could have had for the launch of our pilot issue! A food zine pops up out of nowhere and you guys really showed up and showed out in support — I can cry.

We sold out of food, were full capacity by 2 pm, and were told it was the busiest Sunday Hen’s Teeth have had — feeling super proud of my community and the wider migrant community for this one.

Things like this take a village and I want to big up a few people who made this whole experience so wholesome & so in line with everything I want Bia! to be:

1. @hensteethstore for literally everything
2. @gozeee_ & my mom for being my co-planners / my very literal rocks
3. @gillybean_x_x_ for being an angel on earth & creating the most spectacular drinks with such respect for the cultures they represented
4. Aunty Babe, Aunty Gold, and Tita Marietta for cooking up a storm — they stepped in with 4 days notice and from the feedback i heard, i’m feeling very privileged i can walk up in their kitchens whenever i want
5. @ms.ijae @rockpoool @chichi.vr for being my incredible kitchen team who had absolutely no prior warning but stepped into their roles with such an ease that would make a ramsey kitchen quake
6. @jo_se_lle @chocolatecalienteconchile @adesewa_ for participating in the panel discussion w/ me — 4 black women sitting and chatting about the shit that’s important to us, i want to see more of that
7. @sulimusic_ for blessing us with her angelic voice and closing us out with such a good vibe
8. @dylangomery for these gorgeous photos and video and documenting the day
9. each and every contributor/guest/friend/family/stranger that came through the doors
